Emotional Support Resource Room
Heidi’s Kids Emotional Support Resource Rooms are dedicated spaces within local schools designed to meet students’ essential needs and nurture their overall well-being. Each room offers access to food, hygiene products, school supplies, clothing, and shoes, ensuring that every child has what they need to feel comfortable and confident at school. Students can visit the Resource Rooms freely, without parental involvement or paperwork, allowing them to receive support with dignity and ease. Teachers and counselors are available to assist students, while licensed counselors provide on-site emotional support services to address social and emotional challenges.
Through these partnerships, Heidi’s Kids also operates the Blessing Sack Program, which provides weekend meals and snacks for 50 low-income students—and their siblings—each week of the school year. School counselors identify participating students based on need, ensuring that resources reach those who need them most. In collaboration with the Jefferson County and Birmingham City School systems, Resource Rooms have been established at Irondale Community School, Grantswood Elementary, Center Point Elementary, and Minor Elementary, offering ongoing care, nourishment, and hope to students and families across the community.
Beyond the Resource Rooms, Heidi’s Kids offers several programs that extend our mission of compassion and connection. The Exotic Animal Show brings excitement and education into schools, while Heidi’s Closet provides gently used clothing and accessories to children in need. Our Good Neighbor Kindness Awards celebrate students who show empathy and kindness, inspiring others to do the same. During the holiday season, Project Winter Wonderland and our Christmas Sponsor Program spread joy by providing gifts and experiences for 100 children and their families. We have even hosted free haircut events, helping students feel confident and cared for.
Together, these initiatives reflect the heart of Heidi’s Kids—creating spaces of support, kindness, and hope so that every child can thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
